These open education courses are a mid-ground between traditional structured class-room teaching and the freely available but fragmented information in the world wide web (Aydin 2017). In a traditional classroom, the educator has a specific course with clearly articulated goals and outcomes. With the push towards digitization of education, increasing competition between Universities, accreditation requirements, there is clearly a movement in Indian Education towards a learner-centric and outcome based education. Educationists are now adopting digital content in their lecture delivery, using methods other than a written examination, such as seminars, assignments, and group projects to assess the outcome. According to a report prepared by Stanford Class Central, it was estimated that more than 500 Universities offer 4200 courses to 35 million learners globally (Shah 2016). Coursera, a for-profit provider, offers more courses than many others. From India, Indian School of Business, Indian Institute of Management, Bangalore offer courses through International MOOCs. In our library, reports belonging to the past three decades are preserved. The present day scans, reports are all searchable, but the scan reports that are two decades old are not searchable. They are very important and constantly referred by Scientists and Engineers for the fast breeder design purpose. It was decided all these documents would be scanned and added to the collection. When scanning was done, it was found a skew getting introduced into these documents and OCRs were not directly deskewing and required a pre-processing to be applied to the document. Optical character recognition (OCR) tool is a solution to extract the text from image and scanned documents. So it was decided an OCR would be developed using open source libraries and the de-skewing methods necessary would be added to make it useful to our task. This paper discusses what is an OCR, the different steps necessary to extract text from image files using an OCR, the OCR tool development, evaluation of the OCR tool and the de-skewing method implemented in the tool.Item Information Literacy Skills Assessment of Post Graduate Students in Sant Gadgebaba Amravati University, Amravati, Maharashtra: A Best Practice(INFLIBNET Centre, 2017-08) Gudadhe, Vaishali PThis paper presents student centric best practice of imparting Information literacy skills and assessment of Post Graduate students, which can be student centric activity at college and university level.
