Today new techniques of Information packaging and delivery ensure its availability at the point of demand instantly. This is achieved by exploiting the technologies provided by telecommunications, computer networking and broadcasting media. Some major Value-Added Services like E-mail and the WWW ( World Wide Web ) , Cable TV and Internet Access, Education via Internet E-business, Telebanking , Radio and Television Broadcast on the Internet are a result of this convergence bringing up various Security and Cryptography aspects . Internet telephony reflects the beginning of a new communication era, which is characterized by running real-time applications over Internet/Intranet based computer communication infrastructure. Mobile communications and Internet based computer communications are the two fastest growing areas of communications indicating an enormous potential in the intersection of these two domains. Emerging trends are 4G, the Wireless Broadband Access which gives way to applications like Virtual Navigation, Tele medicine, Tele-geoprocessing applications, Crisis management applications and Virtual Laboratories. The interaction between human and the 3C’s ( Computer + Communication + Content (Multimedia) is becoming a daily staple as we witness powerful computers uniting in a networked environment where wired and wireless communications enjoy broadening bandwidths that permit the transmission of multimedia content.Item A-Lib 2.0: New Avatar Academic Libraries with Web 2.0 Applications(INFLIBNET Center, 2008-02-28) Dora, Mallikarjun; Maharana, BuluThe web has seen the explosion of social networking tools, which are empowering ordinary people to connect, collaborate and contribute in a global collaboration. In this situation, information literacy is an essential skill mandatory for tackling challenges. The present study aims to find students’ awareness regarding academic integrity, information use, and information literacy in the digital environment from an ethical point of view. By using google form, a questionnaire was distributed randomly to PG students, and collected data were analyzed. Results of the study revealed that 88.24% (60) students are aware when plagiarism happens. Also, most of the PG students know the meaning of censorship (82.72%) and examples of citation style manuals (85.19%). On the other hand, less than half of the respondents were acquainted with the term netiquette (49.38%) and referencing software (27.16%). Further, Hypothesis testing results reveal that there is a significant difference between males and females regarding the statement, “Copying is allowed from open access resources without giving credit or citation or references”. Similarly, a substantial difference between the two age groups students was observed regarding two statements, one is the meaning of censorship, and another one is examples of citation style manuals. The researcher suggested that workshops, webinars, and training may be beneficial for students to keep academic integrity intact.Item Academic Librarians of the North-East and Automation(2003) Laloo, BikikaItem Academic Libraries and Cloud Computing(INFLIBNET Centre, 2013-03-23) Joshi, Namrata; Prajapati, Saurabh KIn library and information, first revolution came when automation started in most of the libraries. Search engines are also about despair and disappointment. A researcher while using search engines for resource discovery might have experienced one or the other sentiments. One may say that user satisfaction depends much upon the search strategies deployed by the user. But at the same time its also depends upon the quality of search engine used for information retrieval. Today, there are many search engines used for resource discovery. They display the results of the searches made in readily-comprehensible manner with lots of customization possibilities including refining and sorting. This paper is an attempt to analyze qualitatively and quantitatively the three most used and popular search engines for academic resource discovery: Google Scholar, Scirus and Windows Live Academic.Item Acceptance of MOOCs for Engineering Education In india(INFLIBNET Centre, 2015-03-12) Joshi, Namrata MMOOCs are in limelight recently. The study is quantitative and uses the Bibliometrics citation analysis technique to evaluate references in the Scopus Database. The citation pattern of theses and dissertations indexed in the database is compared with the citation frequency of the repositories. The results show little correlation between the domain of ‘theses' output and its cited records. As expected, Scopus and Google Scholar have no correlation regarding citation frequencies. The findings help the authors understand the repositories' impact and provide attention to the high-impact repository sites.Item Access of E-resources By The Users Of LNB Library With Special Reference to UGC-Infonet: An Evaluative Survey(INFLIBNET Centre, 2008-11-06) Majumder, Apurba Jyoti; Deka, Dipen; Bose, Sharmila; Sarma, Gautam kumar; Goswami, KukilaThis paper is based on the survey of the users of the Laksminath Bezbaroa (LNB) Library of the Dibrugarh University about the access of the e-resources available in the library.
