The study shows that the e-library portal has increased overall usage of library electronic resources. The recommendations for improving the e-portal service include: Upgraded interfaces and compatibility assessments, continuous collaboration between librarians and faculty in selecting and acquiring the most appropriate format of resources to support the curriculum and research needs of the users, well planned and executed marketing strategies for the resources, Workshops/ training in the use of resources and Assessment of the collection to ensure quality and relevance. The development and launch of the portal was not simply a means of enhancing current services and providing a user-friendly platform to access all resources. The portal changed the image of the library from a physical space to a digital companion in student life. Even though the launch of the portal has increased usage of electronic resources, the research needs to be extended to further years to review the access through portal. The library portal has increased the usage but there might be several other underlying factors adding to this, which need to be considered.Item Data Analytics and Visualization in Libraries(INFLIBNET Centre, Gandhinagar, 2019-11) Patnaik, RachnaLibraries play a vital role in supporting research and learning processes. Findings are indicating that LISPs (Library and Information Science Professionals) are gladly accepting the change in their services and profession. They are showing a good and positive attitude towards SM. Most of the LISPs are in favor of using SM to promote and capture the attention of their users particularly those who are online savvy. The majority follow the new trend for giving library services. LISPs are taking it as a knowledge-sharing activity. They are mostly using Facebook, Myspace, LinkedIn, Blogging and YouTube. Some of them have also made online group to promote their library services. Some believe that there is a lack of proper training, lack of knowledge of some LISPs. They are also facing problems for the inappropriate fund and management negligence. It is also found that privacy may be a prime factor for such services. Connectivity to Network and problems due to the non-availability of electricity are also pushing back the use of SM for library services. A smart library (SL) is an information centre with networks of many libraries and their services in a larger informational ecosystem around the globe. Smartness means that the development of new library e-tools and services are measured on the assessment of real resources and users. Smart is more user-friendly than intelligent. As every new paradigm, smartness bears risks. In today’s era, a library equipped with ‘smart library’ technology is to be allowed freely open to library readers with no library staff. Technology gives facilities for controlling and monitoring of library buildings, including automatic doors, lighting, auto-services pavilions, and any computers. It gives permission to use resources 24X7 hours so that the reader s can use the library at times that that are convenient for them. The ‘smart library’ requires ‘smart librarians which gives service to user centric and user friendly. The role of librarians and libraries is changing in the present era due to the changing demands of its users. The role of SL requires three things i.e. Smart users, SL staff and SL services. Users are excepting more from the libraries especially from the academic libraries not only for their intellectual growth but also for their day today informative demand which will certainly grow day by day. The author describes briefly details on smart library, smart service, smart readers, cloud service developing ‘smart librarians, service visibility, service orientation of smart academic library, advocacy, features, vision of SLs, planning for impact, smart governance, smart library place, smart management, smart library staff, green library building, smart librarians and their e-service in digital era. This paper is purely theory based paper which is described by author pinpointed regarding smart library.Item Ethical Role of Library & Information Science Professional in Disseminating Information(INFLIBNET Centre, Gandhinagar, 2019-11) Roy, MahuaLibrary & Information Science (LIS) is a profession where ethical responsibilities are there on the part of the LIS professionals towards its users and the institution he/she serves.
