The literatures on IoT applications retrievable by Google Scholar search during 2010 to 2019 were selected. The number of articles available on this area found to be very less. The authors attempted to provide a comprehensive review on the available articles to generate inferences important to the field of library and information science.Item The Revelation of Relationship between Library Transactions and Students’ Academic Performance(INFLIBNET Centre, Gandhinagar, 2019-11) Dash, Nrusingh Kumar; Sahoo, Jyotshna; Mohanty, BasudevThere should be an empirical demonstration by Academic Libraries to show that library usage does contribute positively to students’ academic achievement. It would add value to the effectiveness of the library in particular and institution in general. User surveys and focus group interviews are good tools for understanding user needs, expectations, and satisfaction/dissatisfactions. These can measure students’ perceptions only but that does not necessarily match with real learning outcomes. Library Transactions made by the students here play a vital role in accessing their outcomes in terms of Academic Performance. The present study attempts to uncover the meaningful relationship between the students’ library book transactions and their Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA). It could be proved that library transaction was able to put its impact on students’ academic performance.Item Using Libguides/Research Guide to Enhance Personalized Service in Academic Library(INFLIBNET Centre, Gandhinagar, 2019-11) Behera, Sanat KumarFrom pathfinders to modern guides, Libraries are adopting different tools and technologies to provide quality service to its user. The growth of quantum of information & the weak paid ranking of search engines is creating a big challenge for the user to access relevant information. Library, as the guardian of the knowledge, has the potential to serve using different technologies. However, it needs extensive cooperation and collaboration from its user community. The library can guide the users if they understand the user queries, academic structure, research needs and information seeking modes. Library personalized service is user-centric service. It aims to personalize the content and serve in such a way that could assist users in getting relevant information and gain maximum user satisfaction. The changing role of information professionals thus, need continuing professional development, predominantly, in an academic set up like colleges and universities to take our students and teachers to the doorsteps of the 21st century.Item Plagiarism, a Critical Issue in Academic Research Integrity: Attitudes of Research Scholars(INFLIBNET Centre, Gandhinagar, 2019-11) Faizan, Mohd; Munshi, Shamim AktarThe purpose of this study is to investigate the awareness and attitude towards plagiarism of research scholars at the Aligarh Muslim University, India. The researchers have applied a quantitative study based on the survey method along with the questionnaire as a tool for survey instrument to achieve the research objectives. The researchers have personally distributed the questionnaires to the fulltime Ph.D. scholars in the Faculty of Social Science. The collected data analysed by using Statistical Package for the Social Science (SPSS), version 20, to know the frequencies, percentages and tabulations. The results of the study showed that the majority of research scholars are aware of plagiarism and they believed that it is wrong and immoral. The research scholars believed that the higher score, higher the chance getting a job at the university level, and because of this most of the research scholars produced their publications without keeping the research ethics and academic honesty in their minds and this lead to breaking academic integrity and cause of Plagiarism. However, it is suggested to the university authority to organize such workshops and orientation programs regarding plagiarism, so that scholars or neo-scholars will understand that it is a violation in academic integrity.Item Information Management in the Self- financing Engineering College Libraries Affiliated to Anna University, Chennai - A Study(INFLIBNET Centre, Gandhinagar, 2019-11) Rajasekar, V; Krishnamoorthy, G; Kalaiappan, VInformation Management (IM) is the collection and management of information from one or more sources and the distribution of that information to one or more audiences. The goals of information management are getting the right information to the right person, at the right time, from the right source, in the right amount, in the right order, in the right form, in the right medium, with optimal accuracy, as quickly as possible and at the lowest reasonable cost. To achieve the objectives of the information management cooperation requires in all the disciplines. The information management disciplines include records management, archives management, corporate librarianship, knowledge management, business intelligence, document management, micrographics, and electronic records/imaging systems. Research data is another important asset of research which needs to be properly managed. The situations of research data management in European, American and Australian continents is very much advanced and are having a well research data management platform for their researcher. But when we study the research data management aspect basically in Indian context, then the situation is quite different than the other countries of the world. In Indian universities, a lot of research data has been collected by the researcher which is unutilized after the completion of research. This paper explores that what is the present status of research data management policy in Indian context. It also highlights on how India can have the research data management policy in the field of academics. It further reflects the proposed policy on how INFLIBNET centre can act as a national platform or nodal centre to build the anticipated IARDR. This paper explains the open-source digital repository software with special reference to the availability of plugin features in Omeka which is not available with others two IR Software. This paper describes the feature of plugins, strengths, and weaknesses of Omeka as a software platform for creating and managing digital collections on the web. This paper vividly discuss in details about the present library management systems and services of the library for the benefit of the whole users’ community.Item Information Literacy among Undergraduate Students of Sri Venkateswara Medical College and Guntur Medical College, Andhra Pradesh: A Survey(INFLIBNET Centre, Gandhinagar, 2019-11) Murthy, P Rama; Padmini, KToday Information Literacy has become vital because of proliferation of information resources in all forms. Information literacy is a set of abilities require for individuals to identify the need for information, find, locate, evaluate and use information effectively and efficiently. The Present study explores information literacy among the students of Sri Venkateswara Medical College & Guntur Medical College, affiliated to NTR University of Health Sciences, Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh. The survey method was adopted for the study and 225 questionnaires were circulated among the medical students and 195 were received back for analysis with a response rate of 86.66%. Majority of the respondents were able to determine their information needs, types of information resources available; utilization of e-resources, and know the levels of awareness of social networking sites. This study found that a majority of the respondents of both medical colleges are needed information for updating their subject knowledge, frequently utilized information sources, social networking sites of both medical colleges. Most of the respondents here given top priority high skills in getting information in print and electronic format. They rarely used search engines of both medical college students are viz., infoseek, AltaVista, lycos, MySpace and LinkedIn social networking sites.Item Twitter Sentiment Analysis: A Case Study of Ten University Libraries(INFLIBNET Centre, Gandhinagar, 2019-11) Parabhoi, LambodaraSentiment analysis is a computer rule based automatic process that has the ability to scrutinize the short text message, user comments, and other textual information and gives the sentiment score on a given subject. The current study is to examine the sentiment analysis of twitter comments of ten university libraries. The ten of universities list was compiled from World university rankings 2019 (Time Higher Education Website). A total of 15850 number of tweets collected between 1st Jan 2013 and 1st September 2019 via Twitter Application Programming Interface (API) for further analysis. The study found overall av. Pos. - av. Neg. was 0.4115. Out 15850 tweets majority of the tweets from The Bodleian Libraries, University of Oxford about 2760 tweets and highest friend followers 76180 found. Significantly, The Bodleian Libraries, University of Oxford was the highest Av. Nos. of positive sentiment (1.7728). However, the lowest Av. Neg. sentiment received by Yale Library about (1.1454). Moreover, the study found that the word “exhibition” (499) times and “archive” (401) times used in total tweets. Likewise, the word “Congratulations” found average positive sentiment (3.0152) mentioned in total tweets. The study recommended that the library can use social networking sites and examine the user comments, feedback, and reviews that, a user had given on different posts. By doing this, the library will be in better position to overcome the problem and make better decisions for future.Item Library Technology Solutions for Smart Libraries: A Comparative Study of IIT Delhi and IIT Bombay Library System(INFLIBNET Centre, Gandhinagar, 2019-11) Sahoo, Sambhunath; Panda, K CLibrary technology refers to those technologies which are mainly used in libraries for providing smart library services to their users, perhaps keeping in view of the implications of five laws of library science as envisaged by Dr. S. R. Ranganathan. Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) recognized as Institute of National Importance, provide higher technical education and research in India. IIT Libraries are using latest technologies to provide smart library solutions to their users.This study used survey method to collect primary data through observation technique and questionnaire tool. The study selected two IITs, i.e. IIT Delhi and IIT Bombay who got Institute of Eminence (IoE) status by the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), Government of India and secured 2nd rank and 3rd rank respectively in NIRF-2019 under engineering category. Their Library plays a pivotal role in making them at the top. The main objectives of the study were to know what kinds of library technology used by IIT Bombay and IIT Delhi Library System. The study found that both the IIT Bombay and IIT Delhi Library used library technology in different areas like library automation, library website, institutional repository, remote access, web-scale discovery system (WSDS), cloud computing and Web 2.0 applications. This study suggests appropriate measures for the improvement of existing library system of IIT Bombay and IIT Delhi. This paper tries to throw light on the place of RA component in current LIS curriculum and its awareness among educators. The syllabi of all the universities in Maharashtra offering LIS course were assessed. Along with this, a questionnaire survey was conducted of all currently working LIS teachers, permanent and visiting. The collected data showed that almost none of the universities have RA portion in their syllabi.
