Abstract: The Open Source Software (OSS) model makes source code available to users, who can change the software to tailor it more closely to their own requirements. With many OSS applications now available for library and information management, Organisations have a new option for acquiring and implementing systems, plus new opportunities for participating in OSS projects. Examples of such systems include Greenstone DSpace, and Ganesha. OSS is popular with technically sophisticated users, who are often also the software developers. OSS is becoming an increasingly popular software development method. This paper highlights the comparison, features, function and usability of OSS like Greenstone Digital Library, DSpace and Ganesha Digital Library.
