Abstract: Nowadays E-learning courses offering more flexibility about the pace, time, and place for making education widely accessible for each and every one. E-learning provides many benefits to the students as well as instructors to develop their skills. Successful implementation of e-learning requires the appropriate application of the Internet to support the delivery of learning, skills and knowledgeable courses, technologies, or infrastructures. The importance of e-learning paths that vary according to the student, the subject material, the level of competence, and corporate or student preferences etc. In the present digital era selecting and purchasing of a learning management system has become a major financial and strategic decision for colleges and universities. So, the educational institutions need to have suitable strategies for successful deployment of the e-learning process. This paper covers different types of LMS, all the major e-learning tools, and standards, basic security issues, benefits and limitations of e-learning.
