Abstract: From traditional to modern librarianship, the role of the librarian is constant to connect the right users to the right information; however the medium of providing required and relevant information has changed over the period. The role of librarians as selector and organizer of information on the web. The web portal offers the ease of searching many sources at once, integrating results from licensed resources and local databases and bibliographical descriptions of digitized material. Librarians bring their expertise with content, their knowledge of copyright, their commitment to customer service and their experience in creating customized web-based information delivery systems. With the help of open source Content Management Systems (CMSs) it is easy to develop and maintain the library portals as per the requirement of an organization, be it academic, special or any other organizations including NGOs. One such potential Smart Centre of Tech Mahindra Foundation at Vishrantwadi, Pune, has been selected for developing library web portal under CSR activity.
