Discussed the risk assessment for documents and need for preservation in this paper. Various strategic objectives of preservation and issues of preservation like technological, legal, social, etc. are discussed in detail. Major strategies like migration, emulation, XML, etc. for preservation of documents in original format and in digital format also presented in detail. Digital preservation guidelines like documenting resources, standards, etc. are described. Copyright/ copyright management, water marking is also included in present paper.en_US
