| Abstract: | World Wide Web, as a public source of information, contains enormous amount of data in different formats. This paper critically examines four web-based information storage formats and the searching mechanisms being used in them. The scope of this paper is limited to HTML, XML, PDF and Image format. It describes briefly the leverages and perils of using each of these formats and critically compares their support systems. The paper also offers advice to Librarians to enable them to manage web-based information in a better way for their users by using suitable format(s). |
