Abstract: This paper describes development of computer catalogue, undertaken at Indian Statistical Institute Bangalore Center Library, in which range of professional techniques were applied to modernize the library with the objective of improving its services and raising its profile within the institution. This involved thorough stock revision, retro conversion of the catalogue, and introduction of an integrated automated library management systems. Two possible approaches to conversion were identified viz. use of previously compiled accession list of materials available in the manual system; and entering the bibliography details into computer. Some of the important issues are discussed in this paper.
