dc.description.abstractPurpose : To highlight the potential of web services for libraries. Approach : A brief description of web services is followed by future of web services and present scenario in India. Findings : Web services offer many advantages to the library community, but the majority of these advantages need standardization of web services and active involvement/participation of library staff. Conclusion : This paper is a clariol call to the library community to be actively involved, perpetrate orientation programmes to users and prevent the loss of proprietary web services by supporting the development and use of standard web services.en_US
