    Authorship of Indian LIS literature

    The UGC of India declared the librarians from universities and colleges ineligible to apply for research grants for major and minor research projects. Hence, this study was undertaken to find out if (Academic) Librarians produce research; if so, what is their share amongst authors of LIS research published from India. It was found that Indians are the largest contributors of LIS literature published from India, that nearly entire LIS literature published from India is contributed by LIS fraternity only, and that, among all Indian authors of LIS literature published from India, share of Academic Librarians is larger than LIS Faculty.

    Bibliometric Study of Textiles Research Literature of IJFTR

    This bibliometric study of ‘Indian Journal of Fibre and Textile Technology’ (IJFTR) was undertaken to understand the year-wise distribution of articles, authorship pattern of articles and geographical distribution of affiliations of the authors of articles, to calculate the average number of authors per article and to identify the top authors in terms of articles contributed. Based on the data collected for the study, it has been found that the number of articles published every year increased, that multiauthored articles outnumbered single-authored articles indicating a collaborative research and publishing pattern, that share of authors affiliated in India was about two-third of all authors with authors from as many as 23 countries contributing an article. The average number of authors per article was 2.94, and, Das, A. from Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (India) was the top author with as many as 14 article contributions.
