    Advances in computer and networking technology have led to the introduction of very powerful hardware and software platforms that can collect, manage and distribute large amount of pertinent data. Data Warehousing is one of the most interesting and dynamic among the new technological transitions. It is a repository of subjectively selected and adapted operational data, which can successfully answer any ad hoc, complex, statistical or analytical queries and it provides means for implementing effective decision support system by utilizing data scattered all over the organization. The aim of the paper is to generate interest and understanding among the library and information professionals regarding the concept of data warehousing. Major characteristics, goal, structure, application and advantages of data warehousing are also described in detail.

    Managing the Digital Library in the Changing Environment

    Recently the idea of the digital library has moved to the forefront of discussion and research. Digital libraries are those libraries, which have number of machine-readable publications and facilities for remote access to several databases. Their aim is to provide instant access to digitized information and consists of variety of information sources-paper to paperless forms including multimedia. The purpose of this paper is to describe how the information professionals can manage the digital library in the changing environment. It describes how an integrated approach of information technology, infrastructure and human resource management is useful in supporting the fruitful utilization of digital library by the users and enhances their satisfaction. Finally, it highlights the issues of ethical concerns in the digital environment.

    Network Security Policy: A key to successful Network Management

    21 st century is marked by spectacular and unprecedented developments in the field of telecommunication. The popularity of this field is gaining momentum, as it is faster, cost-effective and more efficient in resource sharing than any other communication media. Networks are the basis of telecommunication technology. The paper flashes on various aspects of network security and requirement of having sound security policy. The topic of network security policy is dealt with in detail, which is followed by the findings of the survey carried out by the authors. Some suggestions for developing security policy are given with the objective of helping the Library and Information Science professionals.
