    Collection and Assets Management: One University Library’s Journey to the Future

    Academic libraries worldwide have witnessed a number of trends and paradigm shifts over the last decade. It is vital for university libraries to develop a collection of high standards to satisfy academics and researchers for supporting the vision and mission of a university. The area of collection development and management is the most important part of any library. This paper reports on the problems and prospects of collection and asset management of the University Library of Cochin University of Science and Technology (CUSAT). The insight for the paper comes from the authors’ first-hand experience supported by literature review. Detailed information regarding the purchase of books, serials, policies regarding the acquisition, and changing trends and problems were collected from the official records with the help of a structured data sheet. The study discovers the current trends in collection and asset management in CUSAT and point out the changes likely to be adopted in future.

    A Digital Library Proposal for Engineering Libraries

    Internet of Things (IoT) in Academic Libraries

    This paper reviews the literature on the application of Internet of Things (IoT) in libraries and identifies the prospective areas where IoT can be executed effectively. The literatures on IoT applications retrievable by Google Scholar search during 2010 to 2019 were selected. The number of articles available on this area found to be very less. The authors attempted to provide a comprehensive review on the available articles to generate inferences important to the field of library and information science.

    Research Productivity of Universities in Kerala: Growth andTrends

    The study aims to understand the growth of scholarly literature produced by the Universities in Kerala. The study has attempted to understand the top ranking university, major research area, prolific authors, top publications,most productive year etc. The data for the study was collected from the SCOPUS database of Elsevier. Though there are 15 universities in Kerala, the study is limited to six state universities. The findings of the study revealed a total number of 11764 documents. CUSAT is the top ranking university in Kerala followed by University of Kerala and MG University.More documents were produced on Science and Engineering subjects. Growth of literature in social science is low. Compared to major universities, the growth of scholarly literature from the Universities in Kerala found to be low.

    Trends in Research Productivity: An Analysis of the Research Publications of Cochin University of Science and Technology

    The study aims to analyse the research productivity of Cochin University of Science and Technology (CUSAT) during 2009-2013 on the basis of data from Web of Science (ISI). The most prolific authors of CUSAT community, the preferences of source titles for communication of research publications and citation status of CUSAT scholars are identified. The study found that even though the productivity pattern is not steady, there is 3.7 per cent increase shown from 2009 to 2013. The study also found that CUSAT research community prefers foreign journals rather than Indian journals to communicate their research findings.
