Item Measuring the Open Access Friendliness of Indian Institutions through Data Carpentry(INFLIBNET Centre, Gandhinagar, 2022-11) Roy, Abhijit; Mukhopadhyay, ParthasarathiThe present study has investigated the open access friendliness of top Indian academic institutions that have been ranked in the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) 2020. Open access friendliness has been measured based on two areas: i) the OA publication area and ii) the use of a license in OA publications. The present study has analyzed, over the last ten years, a total of 6,04,586 primary publication data (2010–2019). The data carpentry tool, named OpenRefine, has fetched the open access status of the institutional publications. The indicator assessed the selected institutions' open access friendliness. The final OAF ranking shows that 36.63% (n=37) of institutions have an OAF score above 50 and OAF scores ranges from 36.51 at the lowest to 74.99 at the highest. The overall OA share for top 100 institutes in India in the given publication time frame is 23.73%.Item Preservation and Management of Aboriginal Cultural Heritage Resources in the Information Society: An Outline of the Solution through Emerging uses of ICTs(INFLIBNET Centre, Gandhinagar, 2022-11) Dutta, Anirban; Mukhopadhyay, ParthasarathiThe goal of this exploratory study is to identify the methods and resources that can help create an information system for cultural heritage resources of an indigenous community. As they live in secluded, self-contained groupings and are completely different in terms of culture and ethnicity from modern cultures, the aboriginal peoples, who were India's first residents, are the least developed in terms of economic development and social standing. The management of cultural heritage resources can best be accessed and experienced when they are in operational condition, as it requires consideration of the lives and living conditions of local communities. Throughout history, many indigenous cultures have either disappeared or have been marginalised to the point of extinction due to colonisation, ignorance of modern civilizations, etc. This paper describes the creation and design of a prototype digital indigenous or aboriginal cultural heritage archive, as libraries, archives, and museums are capable of preserving, disseminating, and reusing such indispensable resources. Only open source software and open standards are being used as technical equipment to carry out this study. This prototype comprises the native indigenous community cultural heritage resources of the Rabha tribal group of the Eastern part of India as a proof of concept and considers the necessity of integrating such a system with the traditional library retrieval system for complex information management needs.Item Towards Library 2.0: Designing and Implementing the Modern Library Service(INFLIBNET Centre, 2008-11-06) Mukhopadhyay, Parthasarathi; Das, Subarna KLibrary 2.0 is a loosely defined model for a modernized form of library service that reflects a transitionwithin the library world in the way that services are delivered to users. The focus is on user-centered change and participation in the creation of content and community. The concept of Library 2.0 borrows from that of Business 2.0 and Web 2.0 and follows some of the same underlying philosophies. This includes online services such as the use of OPAC systems and an increased flow of information from the user back to the libraryWith Library 2.0, library services are constantly updated and reevaluated to best serve library users. Library 2.0 also attempts to harness the library user in the design and implementation of library services by encouraging feedback and participation. Proponents of this concept expect that ultimately the Library 2.0 model for service will replace traditional, one-directional service offerings that have characterized libraries for centuries.Present paper highlights the chaning role of library 2.0 in present digital environment.
