    Exploration of Research Potentiality through Web based e-books

    The features of e-book like model, market collections, developing operating guidelines and enhancing potential strategies, hardware, softwares, and standards need strong strategies, approaches and procedures to support and exchange of scholarly information for research potentiality. The development of e-books and e-publishing has challenged the traditional balance among publishers, authors, book sellers, libraries and information centers in a number of fundamental ways. The spiraling cost of publications including the non-availability of latest printed book, exploration of web technology, networks necessitated the cause of generating the ideas of e-books and more prominently when the publishers and authors found the web as the viable platform for business point of view including academic exploration to promulgate the e-books services through web. This paper throws light on the how the impact of e-books has geared to activate the research potentiality among researchers in the wake of advanced information and communication technology.

    Implications of Data Mining in Digital Library Environment

    Data mining, the extraction of hidden predictive information from large databases, is a powerful new technology with great potential to help the Libraries and Information Centers to focus on the most important information in their data warehouses. Data mining tools predict future trends and behaviors, allowing Libraries and Information Centers managers to make proactive, knowledgedriven decisions. The automated, prospective analyses offered by data mining move beyond the analyses of past events provided by retrospective tools typical of decision support systems. Data mining tools can resolve the problems in Libraries and Information Centers especially in a digital environment. Data Mining has become imminent in view of the abundant growth of digital resources for its management, organization, and retrieval and dissemination of the same to the right users instantly to satisfy the varied need of the users due to inter-disciplinary research. Data Mining, Viability of Data Mining, Process involved in Data Mining, etc. have been discussed in this paper.

    Use and Usage Statistics of Electronic Resources at Central Library Tezpur University: A Case Study

    Application of technologies could create new possibilities to deal with the collections, organization and propagation of vast amount of information. In the library and information centre ICT is used as enabling technology for the acquisition, representation, storage, transmission, and use of resources in electronic form known as e-resources. Electronic resources are regarded as the mines of information that are explored through modern ICT devices, refined and redesigned and more often stored in the cyber space in the most concrete and compact form and can be accessed simultaneously from infinite points by a great number of audience. The libraries could not provide the adequate information to the academic communities including students and researchers at large due to the multi disciplinary research and proliferation of information which compelled the libraries to move from print to electronic sources. The electronic sources now available profusely on Internet, World Wide Web and Consortia including subject gateways facilitated the users to be with in the midst of the galaxy of information. The present study highlights the use, evaluation and management of e-resources in Central Library, Tezpur University where the user community take the opportunities to make the best use of e-resources provided by the said library.
