    Open Access Movement in Medicine: A Study of Contribution of Different States of India

    The paper is an endeavor to reveal the growth of open access (OA) literature in medicine across various states of India. The study has taken data for five year period i.e. 2005 – 2009 to understand the growth and contribution of various states of India to OA literature in medicine. The study worked at the article level to see the contribution of various states of Indiain OA journals. For this Elsevier’s Scopus database indexed OA journals were used to identify the top contributing states of Indiaand their corresponding research output.

The paper works at the continental level to see the use of various social networking sites in seven continents of the world. It offers a thorough insight of yearly growth of social networking sites. The study reveals that Facebook is gaining market in every continent. Facebook is the only site that is having more that 90% market share in Africa since 2010. StumbleUpon is mostly used in North America, Oceania and Europe..
