    Knol: a Gateway to Encyclopedic Article

    Knol means a unit of knowledge. It is a Google’s project to create an open encyclopedia covering all aspect of human knowledge. Currently it is in beta mode. The project hopes to through out the use of inappropriate web content for research purpose, as it is happening now a day. The author(s) also can earn revenue from their intellectual contribution made to Knol if they want to do so. This paper is of review type of the articles published over internet from the announcement of knol i.e. 13th December, 2007 to 13th January, 2008, due attention is also given to describe the probable application of Knol in Library and Information Science.

    Management Approach to Online Encyclopedias by Using Google Custom Search Engine via Google Co-op

This custom search engine can be linked with other institutional website / blog / wiki etc for answering some basic reference question or finding background information on any topic

    Wiki and its different facets

    The Wiki is a collaboratively developed Open access / closed access repositories of information in a specific field or in a general field of interest whether the case may be. Any user can create or edit any page on the site using a simple web browser, and all information processing is done on the server side. This article will provide an overview of wikis right from its definition and origin to its characteristic. Due attention is also given to describe how low cost wikis can be created and its probable application in LIS.
