Abstract: Information is knowledge, facts or data. For the purpose of enabling the users to assimilate information, it should be repacked. Knowledge becomes information when it is externalized i.e. put in to the process of communication. The effectiveness of communication technology depends how well it provides its clients with information rapidly, economically and authentically. A large number of ICT enabled services including OPAC; e-resources etc. are available in the university library. Studies have been done to find the impact of ICT on different sections of CUSAT library by observing the activities of different sections; discussions with colleagues and visitors; and analyzing the entries in the library records. Abstract: Just like all other aspects of life, the digital revolution has taken on the world of publishing also. With digital publishing coming to the fore, the publishing world has undergone several fundamental changes. Electronic publishing is basically a form of publishing in which books, journals and magazines are being produced and stored electronically rather than in print. The use of licensed electronic information resources will continue to expand and in some cases become the sole or dominant means of access to content Without violating any issues of privacy or confidentiality we can dramatically enhance our understanding of information use. Abstract: The paper identifies the changes taking place in the Higher Education and gives a brief overview of the LIS Education, its past happenings, and its present status. It briefly spells out the changing trends in the LIS curriculum, and the varied views expressed by renowned professionals regarding the profession vis-à-vis professionals. Further, the article emphasizes the role of NAAC as a positive indicator in boosting the image of academic libraries, and its share in the reaccreditation cycle. It further explains the changing job profiles and competencies of the LIS profession, and highlights the efforts initiated by the Western countries in reorienting the syllabi of LIS and enumerates examples of their Indian counterparts. The paper puts forth certain basic considerations, the various problem areas and highlights the need to think beyond the curriculum, for a safe sustenance of LIS professionals. Abstract: The paper highlights about the importance of total quality management in libraries. It is an view that the condition which challenged in libraries of Total Quality Management are very much prevalent here. It is not, however, clear if library managers are effecting the necessary changes to satisfy their clients. In the face of these challenges it is now time for libraries to exhibit that they are valuable to the continued survival and sustenance of their organizations. This can be done best by activity management. Therefore, it is a “system of continuous improvement employing participative management centered on the needs of customers”. Key components of TQM are employee involvement and training, problem solving teams, statistical methods, long term goals and thinking and recognition that the system, not people produces inefficiencies.
