Abstract:

Media libraries hold collections of print, celluloid and digital media. They are emerging as
a result of advancements in information technology. This study is an attempt to assess
the current state of IT application in the media libraries of Delhi being headquarter of
about all educational media organizations and their networks of the country. An
assessment is made on the basis of the availability of computer hardware, software,
operating system, databases of holdings and online connectivity. It reveals that most of
the libraries do not follow uniform standards for management and utilization of their
collections. It is suggested to develop IT infrastructure for them in a phased manner by
procurement of hardware, software, training of personnel and achieving online
connectivity. |
