Abstract: It is said: “Everything new is old again” This article deals with digital materials, the factors that affect them. Explains the preservation strategies such as refreshing, migration, technology preservation and emulation. The physical storage conditions like temperature, Relative Humidity, light and other threats: technology obsolescence, insufficient resources and insufficient planning are discussed at length. It is suggested to have common Standards, policies, for acquisition, conversion, storage and maintenance of digital materials, Education and training of digital preservationists, sharing of the technological know how. Abstract: The development of computers and communication technology has brought radical changes in the mode and methods of information, storage retrieval and transmission. The advent of Internet has created greater impact on the Library and Information Centres to have access to various information sources and disseminate it to its users. The services available on Internet can be utilized by the Library and Information Centres for acquisition, collection development and various services like CAS, SDI, ILL,Reference service etc. through the various types of resources that are available on Internet. The article lists the various databases, websites available for utilization in Library and Information Centres.
