Automation and Academic Library Structure: Shaping the Future of University Library

Abstract

The paper highlights on Parija Library, the Central Library of Utkal University of Orissa in relation to possible structural differentiation in the era of library automation. A critical analysis of internal and external structure of the library and states the condition of Parija Library structure before automation. Discusses about the state of the art report of automation of the library. Analyses possible external and internal restructuring of the library by dividing the whole work into different functional sections necessary in an automated environment. Provides some suggestions towards library automation in the lib rary. Concludes with the remarks that in near future Parija Library will be restructured to be a hybrid library instead of a fully automated library.
