The university of Kashmir was initiated to the use of IT applications for its library
services under the auspices of the INFLIBNET Centre, Ahmedabad. The university has
so far created some databases which include those of books, theses (M.Phil and Ph.D),
medical dissertations (MD and MS). The Library System of the university has developed
one more database of the articles published in different international and national journals
available in the Central Library (Allama Iqbal Library itself). This data base viz., Journa
holds 1, 50,000 odd records of the articles from the journals / periodicals available in the
library. The database is kept on a few systems for the search and study of the clientele of
the library augmented by the photocopying facility available in the same floor these
journals are put to display. The articles presented the brief account of the efforts made in
designing the journal database. |
