Management of Urdu Database

Abstract

The paper enumerates the innumerable technical problems encountered by libraries in managing the Urdu collection and the various hurdles encountered while switching over to an automated system from a manual environment. The authors try to impress the library professionals that it is high time they paid more attention to Indian Languages collections and also suggest how to over come the constraints through the examples of the IGM Library’s experience.
