Abstract: Web technology is used to provide access to information both within and beyond the institution. In the future there will be greater emphasis on the delivery of information to support learning wherever curriculum programs are being taught, and wherever students are learning at institute or at home. The role of the library resource centre as a service facility will grow. Institutions have a crucial responsibility towards students to develop their aptitude in using the information potential of these information technologies critically and wisely. The paper is aimed at presenting the use of web technology in education. The problem is with organizing educational resources whereby individual learners will be able to access material according to their own leaner profile and needs. The Data for this paper is based on conceptual study including personal observation and interaction with students, library research referring to the important journals, periodicals, publications and research volumes and making use of the web. The authors in this paper have highlighted the various types of web technology useful for learners and educators. In Recommendations and Conclusions, the authors throw light on the need for a resource database for learners. Further research will entail the feasibility of the implementation of a resource-base using a data warehouse and data mining as the driving forces with the Internet/Web technology as the delivery mode. Abstract: The libraries have adapted themselves to a new challenge of information integration and presentation in order to enhance access to the widely dispersed and distributed electronic information and publications. The open URL standard is a breakthrough for achieving the means to integrate electronic resources of the library. Open URL mechanism transports metadata of electronic resources from one resource to another and provides dynamic links from metadata to full content of the resource described by the metadata. This paper describes the concept underlying the Open URL mechanism, explains the Open URL structure and the link resolvers as the linking component for the resource integration in the libraries. Abstract: The World Wide Web is growing at an exponential rate. There are more and more technologies being developed to provide different ways of accessing this huge information resource, as well as representing the information stored. Because of the increase in information available and people or agents accessing it, the issue of securing this information has become paramount. Semantic Web is an extension of the current web in which the information is given well defined meaning, better enabling computers and people to work in co-operation.[1]. The web pages are designed to be read by humans and not machines. The Semantic Web is a project aimed to make web pages understandable by computers, so that they can search web sites and perform actions in a standardized way URI: http://hdl.handle.net/1944/1099 Files in this item: 1

Abstract: New technologies have always been of interest for libraries, both for the potential of increasing the quality of service and for improving efficiency of operations. In the era of globalisation and liberalisation and with the advent of hi-technologies, the whale world has been condensed in a very small frame. With enormous knowledge explosion, the need to quench the thirst of information cannot be over emphasized. Barcode made inventory tracking easier, but they have their disadvantages. For starts each barcode has to be read in individually by the reader. If an entire well stocked information Centre needed to be checked in to a computer, it could mean several hours of work. Furthermore, the basic barcode is just a tag with data printed on it, and this data can’t be updated. Except, of course by sticking another barcode over it. Where Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) tags come in takes asset tracking to the next level, with smart intelligent tags embedded in the package, the information on the tag can be scanned and updated automatically by readers. RFID married with today’s enterprise resource planning solutions, may soon be the next big thing in information management. The technology provides an automated method to collect product or transaction information. The RFID system works using “smart” tags, with inbuilt silicon chips that store data, a reader that scans information from the tags, and the infrastructure to store and analyse the data. This present paper will give you an understanding of how technology can impact on our libraries. URI: http://hdl.handle.net/1944/1100 Files in this item: 1

Abstract: The introduction of the need of Internet is given which is causing an un-precedent wave of technological change and making this planet a global village. In computer education or R & D or for any, Internet is playing a vital role through out the world. A hexagonal type information access model is designed for greater utility of the existing resources and print materials available etc. the model is very idealistic for information accessing. After explaining the model blocks, development of national infrastructure as suggested by Artherton. P of UNESCO is written. The Indian scenario is presented with various available nets and organizations. The globalization and local touch with electronic connectivity like Japan and Singapore is suggested. Concluded that our model using Internet will give updated information and best use of resources access with global information market. URI: http://hdl.handle.net/1944/1101 Files in this item: 1
