Abstract:
Information is regarded as a vital resource and an invaluable commodity in modern times.
It plays a significant role in the socioeconomic, scientific and technological development of
a country. The rise of the Internet and the rapid expansion of electronic information present
new challenges for acquiring, storing, organizing, preserving and dissemination information
to the users. In the digital age, the contents are created in the form of web sites, virtual
libraries, databases, portals and web logs. The present paper describes the initiatives of
Government of India in context with content creation. The recommendations submitted by
National IT Task force in the IT Action Plans and their status of implementation has been
reviewed briefly. Major e-governance projects reported in official database of e-governance
projects in India in context with Content Creation were located and discussed briefly.

Abstract:
In the state of Maharashtra there are four agricultural university libraries which are rendering
electronic information services to the users to fulfill the aims and objects of the agricultural
university. The present paper succinctly describes the evaluation of electronic information
services in the light of current status of electronic information services and INFLIBNET
services in agricultural university libraries in Maharashtra. The survey of information needs
of the users and electronic information services available in Dr Panjabrao Deshmukh
Krishi Vidyapeeth library, Akola has been conducted.

Reference service has long been a cornerstone of the library profession and the development
of Internet brings libraries new modes of communication and outreach and has extended
the scope of reference service to Digital or Virtual Reference services to the users across
the world. An attempt has been made to notify the significance of Digital reference Services
in the Internet world and suggests the criteria Planning and implementing Digital Reference
Services in an academic and research world. Further, the Web-based reference services,
which could be used by the libraries are compiled and concludes with challenges of system

Abstract:
We are living in the information age. Information is the basic requirement for every human
activity and it is important as food, air and water. Information in itself has no value, but its
value lies in its communication and use.
Information Literacy is the key competency for the Information age. Every person has a
fundamental right to information literacy and information access. It is a necessity for all
students, staff and faculty to be accomplished information users. Information literacy is key
characteristics of life long learning and an essential element of higher education. Promoting
information literacy skills at all levels of education is the collective responsibility of teachers,
librarians and administrators. The paper discussed the concept of information literary and
the role of LIS professionals in promoting electronic information literacy in Digital Libraries.
