Abstract: Information Communication Technologies (ICT) are undergoing rapid changes. Librarian needs to redesign the structure of their library to meet the changing needs by learning and implementing new practices and technologies. How does one provide excellent library service through digital technologies? What are the expectations of digital library patrons? How do we make library patrons satisfied in this digital era? What are the skills librarians need to possess? These questions are addressed in this articles. The digital librarian acts as guardian of the information superhighway and acts as a symbiotic human-machine guru. Article also highlights the roles and functions of a digital library information retrieval, navigation and browsing. This paper outlines professional skills and technological competencies for the development of library professional staff in order to meet the current and future need of users as well as to survive in a rapidly changing technological environment. Abstract: Knowledge is widely recognized as a critical organizational resource irrespective of economic sector or type of organization. Abstract: ICT plays a crucial role in today’s increasingly globalized world. Libraries are in a process of fundamental change brought about by radical changes in technology. In this state of transition to introduce electronic library services, traditional libraries offer support in the way of personnel, funding, information delivery and management for these electronic libraries. The electronic library is growing fast in parallel to the traditional library. The high rate of growth is dictated by factors outside the library. Libraries are under a lot of pressure to achieve their noble goals much faster than planned, to adopt new technologies, to compete with others in managing the tremendous growth of information and to be able to lead in the area. The management and delivery of information in an electronic library differs from traditional library in many ways. The purpose of this paper is to collect the management and delivery problems arisen out of adoption of the electronic library and to present possible solutions in the areas of five basic parts of scientific management – planning, organizing, staffing, directing and controlling. Abstract: Data mining, the extraction of hidden predictive information from large databases, is a powerful new technology with great potential to help the Libraries and Information Centers to focus on the most important information in their data warehouses. Data mining tools predict future trends and behaviors, allowing Libraries and Information Centers managers to make proactive, knowledgedriven decisions. The automated, prospective analyses offered by data mining move beyond the analyses of past events provided by retrospective tools typical of decision support systems. Abstract: If there is any place that makes the library a true global hub of information, it is the reference desk or reference section, for this is the heart of librarianship, and it is here that innovative ideas need to be incorporated in order to fulfill this purpose. Abstract: Knowledge has been the staple source of competitive advantage for many organizations for hundreds of years. During the 1990s, the onset of Internet and Information Superhighway, allowed KM to take off. Abstract: We are living in a society dominated by information technology and in an era of information where huge amount of Information can be speedily processed and saved on easily accessible media. Information plays a really important part in decision making in an organization. For an organization a wrong decision can lead to drastic result. This is on reason why information is steadily acquiring a more central role in business. In the world of today information is becoming increasing important. Generally speaking the standard of information security has not kept pace with this development. For example, information that before was saved on a large amount of paper and physically difficult to steal can today be saved on a disk that can easily remove. In this article author has discussed, what information security is. Why it is needed in an organization of 21 century. The CIA Relationship of information security is discussed with diagram. The information security chain has twelve modules and eighty sub modules. The overview of information security cannot be complete in such small paper; therefore author delimits herself to the most prominent module computer security. In the last future and conclusion of information security are highlighted. Information Security of IIT Kanpur system is also consulted in some of the modules.
