Abstract: We are moving from a physical world based on atoms to a digital world based on bits. Today new techniques of Information packaging and delivery ensure its availability at the point of demand instantly. This is achieved by exploiting the technologies provided by telecommunications, computer networking and broadcasting media. Some major Value-Added Services like E-mail and the WWW ( World Wide Web ) , Cable TV and Internet Access, Education via Internet E-business, Telebanking , Radio and Television Broadcast on the Internet are a result of this convergence bringing up various Security and Cryptography aspects . Internet telephony reflects the beginning of a new communication era, which is characterized by running real-time applications over Internet/Intranet based computer communication infrastructure. Mobile communications and Internet based computer communications are the two fastest growing areas of communications indicating an enormous potential in the intersection of these two domains. Emerging trends are 4G, the Wireless Broadband Access which gives way to applications like Virtual Navigation, Tele medicine, Tele-geoprocessing applications, Crisis management applications and Virtual Laboratories. The interaction between human and the 3C’s ( Computer + Communication + Content (Multimedia) is becoming a daily staple as we witness powerful computers uniting in a networked environment where wired and wireless communications enjoy broadening bandwidths that permit the transmission of multimedia content. Abstract: Cryptography has widely been used as a means of information security in today’s electronic world. In addition to e-commerce, e-mail and other applications over the Internet, it has been used in common household items as well. The increased reliance on cryptographic methods has raised several ethical questions of global concern that are closely related to fundamental human rights. Some view it as a boon, as an escape from the oppressive hands of the state while others see it as a way of making the information - poor have to pay for every information and denial of access to essential information. In this paper an attempt has been made to separate out the concepts appropriate to each interpretation. Digital libraries also face quite many ethical problems concerning cryptography that even stand against the principles of a public library system. Abstract: With a network communication requires cryptography authentication for secure transmission. This paper takes two challenge-response protocols by which entities may authenticate their identities to one another in a mutual communication way. Here the two entities, each holding a share of a decryption exponent, collaborate to compute a signature under the corresponding public key. These may be used during session initiation, and at any other time that entity authentication is necessary. The authentication of an entity depends on the verification of the claimant’s binding with its key pair and the verification of the claimant’s digital signature on the random number challenge. The network defined mutually authenticated protocols are for entity authentication based on public key cryptography, which uses digital signatures and random number challenges. Authentication based on public key cryptography has an advantage over many other authentication schemes because no secret information has to be shared by the entities involved in the exchange. This paper analyzes the protocols, which minimizes cost, very simple and suggests security for mutually signing the signature schemes and provides proofs of security for the safer communication. Abstract: The contribution of networking technologies for a library is significant. The need for proper administration and security for the library LAN is important as considered against the contents. This paper discusses about the methods and issues of network administration in a library followed by the security methods to be adapted on various levels in order to protect the contents from hackers/unauthorized access. The usage of data compression methods, network traffic management algorithms, encryption methods, metadata standards, and backup and recovery procedures are highlighted.
