Abstract: List and discuses the online general purpose encyclopedia that are available on public domain. All these encyclopedias are used in designing a Google Custom Search Engine via Google Co-Op, so that user can search in a single point and all relevant results can be displayed on that platform by searching all the encyclopedias individually. By this way it hopes to manage the entire online encyclopedias that are available on public domain. This custom search engine can be linked with other institutional website / blog / wiki etc for answering some basic reference question or finding background information on any topic URI: http://hdl.handle.net/1944/577 Files in this item: 1

Abstract: The unique knowledge base for the profession of pharmacy is the body of drug information that the pharmacists use to define, monitor and modify the drug therapy of the patients that he or she serves. Digital resources offer such possibility and possess advantages over traditional sources with respect to access of information. One of the greatest benefit of digital resources is that, users can access the resources themselves. The focus of this paper is on the management of digital resources. Response to specific questions relating to pharmaceutical practices, the growth of pharmaceutical information and the use of Information Technology for managing digital sources are some of the facets dealt in detail. Pharmaceutical Digital Resources in the form of CD-ROMs and Web sites and their contents are detailed for information and use. Finally, an emphasis has been made for acquiring and familiarising Information Technology related techniques for effective use of pharmaceutical information. Abstract: Declining library budgets, growing user expectations, technological innovations, and the globaization of information have forced the library and information (LI) professionals to share their precious resources via networks. As a response to these developments, there is a transition from stand alone libraries to library and information networks, infomediaries to infoliterate end-users, and print-based publications to digital documents. The professional competencies are falling short in managing access to the web-based digital documents. In this context, an effort has been made in this paper to raise a few pertinent issues and discuss the implications of the web-based digital documents for the LI profession. Abstract: Libraries are moving rapidly towards the electronic method of storage and retrieval. Electronic journals are being added to the Library collections at exponential rates. Today ejournals offer flexibility and recent developments have enhanced the visibility of these by integrating all journal titles in any format. Individual libraries today are facing issues to make these e-journals accessible to users and consortia based subscriptions to e-journals has developed as a viable solution for increased access, with some cost savings. This calls for handling and management of e-journal subscriptions. This paper outlines some of the processes of handling and managing e-journals in individual libraries as well as Consortium. Abstract: With the continuous downpour of e-content and web content in today’s highly demanding world, it has become inevitable to design and choose an appropriate yet exhaustive e-content management system that would allow us to effectively create our own e-content which is viable and sustainable. For this purpose, an attempt is made to enumerate the most important features that one must look for in an e-content management system. Also, several issues of digitisation have been discussed that one often comes across while converting their documents into e-content. URI: http://hdl.handle.net/1944/1091 Files in this item: 1

Abstract: Managing the digital contents is a generic problem. Digital contents can include anything from business logic (rules, procedures, standards, specifications, communications etc.) and business transactions to digital books, video and images (digital library) gathered for the purposes of reading, viewing, listening, study and reference. Thus digital library can be called a subset of digital contents. The complexity of managing them is directly proportional to the volume, location and type of contents. Storage technology is advancing and access technology is undergoing changes in terms of hardware and software. The technical challenges in managing and servicing a digital library, have been presented here. Numerous examples have also been given to elaborate the ideas.
