Abstract: The goal of this work is to develop an Open Agent Architecture for Multilingual information retrieval from Relational Database. The query for information retrieval can be given in plain Hindi or Malayalam; two prominent regional languages of India. The system supports distributed processing of user requests through collaborating agents. Natural language processing techniques are used for meaning extraction from the plain query and information is given back to the user in his/ her native language. The system architecture is designed in a structured way so that it can be adapted to other regional languages of India. URI: http://hdl.handle.net/1944/493 Files in this item: 1

Abstract: The paper explores the role of an intelligent software agent as a mediator in information retrieval (IR). Software agents are autonomous programs which perform a specific personalized task in a heterogeneous and distributed environment. These autonomous, intelligent agents make decisions on behalf of the user, by narrowing the search domain and decreasing the human computer interaction, phenomenally. With the increasing number of institutes and universities across the country and globe it has become very important to share library services rather than duplicating the library facilities everywhere and incurring huge expenditure. In the present paper, the architecture for a digital library DIGLIB is proposed, which helps a user or a group of users identify and find reading material in a virtual or brick and mortar library of his or her interest. DIGLIB uses a software agent which is a unique combination of filtering and information agent to facilitate intelligent search. The information agent performs a general search on various sites rigorously based on a keyword and phrases. The short listed sites are further subjected to a specific search by the filtering agent. The information agent performs a breadth first search on the links ahead and also provides navigation recommendation. A rule-base is maintained by the filtering agent using premises like broad area of interest, specific area of interest, type of article, book, magazine, journals, periodicals etc. to be searched for further narrowing the search domain and suggesting URNs of digital libraries of user’s interest. An attempt has been made to design a digital library interface using an intelligent agent which continually runs in the background and facilitates the task of finding a suitable match between the desired library service and user’s requirement. Abstract: The World Wide Web is relying on many technologies to build rich interfaces and applications which enable enhanced interactions and social networking. With the emergence of Web 2.0 technologies, it has become easy to seek information interactively and making appointments effectively. Whilst the underlying technologies in Web 2.0 applications like JavaScript, XML, ASP.Net, PHP/Perl, MySQL, etc., are not new, the creative combination of these technologies gave the web a live and full interactivity for dealing with data. AJAX applications have received wide-spread attention as a new way to develop highly interactive web applications. Mashups enables web users to generate web applications that combine content from multiple sources, and provide them as unique services that suit their information needs. This paper explores the interactive web technologies such as AJAX, Mashups, Web Feed, RSS, Atom, Enterprise 2.0 and Web 3.0. URI: http://hdl.handle.net/1944/1049 Files in this item: 1

Abstract: To be more concrete about the importance of rich representation of Indian Heritage, digitization of ancient purana vidya is prerequisite. Indian heritage has reached to masses in India through 18 puranas, because of their certain outstanding features. The same could be represented very effectively appealing to masses via. Digitization process of it. Towards the digitization, puranas can be represented metaphorically with their structural peculiarities. The main purpose of this research paper is to bring to the floor the metaphorical analysis of this huge source under Indian Heritage(IH), by adopting the analogical model, that will be useful for contents tool designers as well as to the content creators by systematizing and fastening their work, and ultimately to the end users from the point of interfaces. With these issues, exploring an environmental atmosphere to make effective the process of digitization is the need for an integrated Indian Heritage Digital Library. Abstract: An Algorithm for Cryptography using Linear Feedback Shift Register (LFSR) Polynomial for a Communication System, say, Computer Network, has been developed and implemented. A Cryptography is concerned with keeping, communication private, two men can communicate over an insecure channel, such as Internet in such a way that a third person cannot understand what is being communicated. Such an ideal Crypto System has been developed using L.F.S.R. polynomial. URI: http://hdl.handle.net/1944/31 Files in this item: 1

Abstract: ICT is playing a major role in the all round development of society. Recent developments in the technologies have brought changes in the modes and methods of information, storage, retrieval and transmission. The Internet and web technology has open new dimension to the information systems. WWW has created a sound impact on the library and information centres to have access to different information sources and disseminate to the users. The paper mainly discusses about the importance of Internet and web technologies for the libraries in the digital environment. Web provides significant advantages by integrating different library and information services with a common user interface provided by web browsers. Abstract: The authors are trying to 190k at the Internet which is becoming an integral part of everyday life, as a technology tool for improvements of the library services thereby increasing the visibility of librarians and the information professionals. The authors feel that there cannot be a gap between the so called librarians and the information professionals. The authors who are working in an automated library and network environment have been practicing the use of Internet in their day-to-day functions from collection developmen't, information processing, organization, retrieval and dissemination and more importantly for reference services. This paper discusses importance of using Internet to develop and expand the information base and to meet and enhance the information needs of their clientele. Abstract: We are living in a digital world. The evidence is everywhere. We see digital camera, digital television, digital diary etc. around us. At the same time, information is also available in digital form at a large scale. Many publishers are publishing their publications in digital form. Some of these outstanding and valuable resources are freely available on Internet. Information seeking on Internet is very difficult. It is said that Internet is the place to find answer for a query in three days, which will require three hours in a traditional library. The present paper lists some of important resources available on Internet. The authors are using these sources to provide reference service in Pune University Library and have visited all the websites described in this paper. These websites are thoroughly studied and found that these are valuable to provide reference service. URI: http://hdl.handle.net/1944/6 Files in this item: 1

Abstract: The introduction of the need of Internet is given which is causing an un-precedent wave of technological change and making this planet a global village. In computer education or R & D or for any, Internet is playing a vital role through out the world. A hexagonal type information access model is designed for greater utility of the existing resources and print materials available etc. the model is very idealistic for information accessing. After explaining the model blocks, development of national infrastructure as suggested by Artherton. P of UNESCO is written. The Indian scenario is presented with various available nets and organizations. The globalization and local touch with electronic connectivity like Japan and Singapore is suggested. Concluded that our model using Internet will give updated information and best use of resources access with global information market. URI: http://hdl.handle.net/1944/1101 Files in this item: 1

Abstract: This paper gives an overview of the changing educational scenario and the impact of Internet. Higher education is facing formidable challenges caused by changing student demographics. The changing IT environment and growing institutional demands with increased emphasis on new technologies and better training for employment for increased productivity makes the educational institutions to rethink and revise their programs. A brief account of the efforts made in India by IGNOU is mentioned. Emphasizes the need for Internet Technology mastering and concludes that the situation in India is not that attractive in using the Internet for education. Hopes that the IT Task Force may improve the situation in the near future. URI: http://hdl.handle.net/1944/42 Files in this item: 1
