Abstract:
The paper has tried to cover different aspects of Knowledge Management(KM) and its
applications. The relevance of KM for organizations finds mention in this paper. The paper
states that KM is a cross-disciplinary domain. Value of knowledge for an organization is
described in detail. The importance of Librarians and Information professionals in managing
the KM of organizations is described. Knowledge creation and knowledge sharing is
described. The challenges facing KM is mentioned. The paper has profiled the different
types of knowledge management initiatives with examples.
